Currently Accepting New Teletherapy Clients in Illinois and Florida

Welcome! I’m Lisa Cody. If you are a teen or adult navigating a life transition, struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or perfectionism, or if you are seeking a healthier relationship with yourself or your body, I would love to support you. Using humor and a genuine, human connection, I can work with you to harness your motivation for change, facilitate self-reflection, and help make your challenges feel lighter and more manageable.

I tailor my approach to each person’s needs and take the time to get to know each client’s personality, values, and priorities in therapy. I have experience supporting clients across levels of care and utilizing evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I believe clients are people first, beyond any diagnosis. My goal as a therapist is to support you in achieving your personal goals while creating a safe, supportive environment. I strive to provide the tools and guidance needed to foster lasting change.

In addition to individual therapy, I offer group therapy focused on eating disorder recovery, body image, and anxiety, creating a supportive space for clients to connect and grow together.

I hold a master’s degree in social work from Governors State University, along with dual undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Psychology, and Sociology from Northern Illinois University. My diverse educational background allows me to approach therapy from multiple perspectives, ensuring that my clients receive comprehensive and compassionate care.

Outside of my practice, I love spending time outdoors, hanging out with my dog and two cats, and exploring a variety of podcasts. I believe that self-care is essential in the therapeutic process, and I encourage my clients to embrace activities that bring them joy and fulfillment.

I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey to wellness. Let’s connect and start working toward your goals today!

Currently Accepting New Teletherapy Clients

Hi there! I’m Allison Deckinga, a therapist who is passionate about getting to know people in a genuine, authentic way. I enjoy working with teens, adults, and families dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and eating disorders and have experience treating clients across levels of care. Topics that I feel passionate about include body image, perfectionism, boundary setting, and shame. My approach to therapy is open and curious, utilizing modalities that are relevant to the client’s individual needs. I incorporate therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I come from a person-centered approach, which focuses on genuineness, creating a non-judgmental environment, assisting clients as they lead their own journey, and using empathy.

I believe that the foundation of the work we do as therapists is being able to establish a trusting relationship with a client. It’s important to me that clients feel safe and understood. I use humor at times as a way to connect and help people feel safe, and I couple this with teaching clients about practical strategies to manage their symptoms and work toward their goals.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Central College and my master’s in clinical psychology at Benedictine University. In between these programs, I worked in a residential treatment facility with adults and teens seeking care for eating and mood disorders. While attending school at Benedictine, I worked at an inpatient unit with adults and teens experiencing psychiatric distress. For the past three years, I have been a therapist at a renowned eating disorder facility, where I also run their adult eating disorder evening program. Meanwhile, I have been working toward becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp).

In my free time, I enjoy traveling to new places, reading, and spending time at home with my two cats, Monty and Snickers.
